AFTER a woman discovered she has Covid-19, she was scared and shocked.
The 40-year-old mum from Umlazi, south of Durban, said she was scared especially when she heard that there was no cure for the virus.
She told Daily Sun that she was infected by her friend who was sick and admitted to one of the hospitals in Durban in March.
“I had visited my friend and all along we thought she had asthma. But doctors later found that she had coronavirus,” she said.
She said after it was found that her friend had Covid-19, she was informed that she also had to get tested.
“I went to test and the results came back positive. It was in the end of March when I was taken to Clairwood Hospital to quarantine for 14 days,” she said.
She said just a day later, she was told that her daughter (10) had also tested positive and she should also self-isolate.
“That really scared me. I thought we would die as there is no cure for the virus,” she said.
She said she then quarantined with her daughter.
“My symptoms were different from other people’s. I couldn’t smell and my back was painful. I couldn’t taste anything in my mouth,” she said.
She said while quarantined they drank a lot of warm water.
“After drinking the water I would sweat a lot. I think that was the coronavirus leaving my body,” she said.
After 14 days, they were sent back home.
“I couldn’t believe we survived. I was so happy” she said.
She warned people that Covid-19 is real and should take good care of themselves at all times.
