PUPILS who have not been to school since the start of the lockdown are starting to lose hope of completing the year.
And to help deal with the situation, motivational speaker Rendani Tshishonga has written some guidelines to help them keep focused.
The 34-year-old from Hamutsha Village, outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo, said he had been motivating pupils since 2016.
His advice to the matrics, which he shared on social media, was not give in to fears that the academic year was lost.
“Matrics will make a significant improvement if they aim to excel despite the challenges the coronavirus has brought. Every academic year comes with a giant to fight and 2020 is no different,” he said.
Rendani encouraged matrics to think why this happened to them.
“It’s because 2020 matrics are different, stronger and more intelligent. They are the only group of pupils who will set the standard of excellence for the decade,” he said.
Rendani urged them to prove to the nation that they could excel even with the odds against them.
“You can outperform those who had plenty of time to be taught face to face by their teachers while you had to learn through television and radio because of the lockdown,” he said.
Rendani said pupils should study like they want to satisfy hunger and not allow a day to go by without hitting the books.
Rendani is a specialist for finance, governance and human resources at the University of Pretoria.
