A Limpopo man (54) handed himself to the police on Saturday, 12 June, after he allegedly shot his wife and is expected to appear in court on Monday, 14 June.

It’s alleged he shot his wife (27) and another man (30) after he reportedly found them together.

The wife has been hospitalised and the man has died.

The incident took place at Nkowankowa Location in Tzaneen.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Ritavi Magistrates Court on Monday.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed that Ritavi police have arrested the man for murder and attempted murder that took place on Saturday at about 7.30pm.

Mojapelo said the police were tipped off by the community and, on arrival, found a 27-year-old woman and a man (30) with gunshot wounds.

“The man, Wessel Visser, was certified dead on the scene and the woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries,” said Mojapelo.

“The suspect was arrested later after he handed himself at the Ritavi Police Station. The licensed firearm was also confiscated. The motive is unknown at this stage but domestic violence can’t be ruled out.”
