PUPILS at Patogeng Primary School will now be able to find information easily.
This is because Tshwane Municipality donated 20 computers to the school in Atteridgeville.
It was previously identified as a poor school that needed a technological update.
Addressing staff and pupils recently, Mayor Randall Williams said the Covid-19 pandemic had shown the need for access to computers and the internet.
“For many months, children have been at home without proper education due to the lockdown. However, with the right technological investment in our public schools, hybrid learning is possible,” he said.
“We need to see these young people develop their own social platforms but to do that, they need access to resources. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the city has capacitated this lab with 20 computers, all with WiFi connection, to enable uninterrupted access to internet services.
“Thanks to MMC Sylvester Phokoje for leading this initiative through the group shared services department,” he said.
Williams urged pupils to work hard and change the world.
Principal Kgomalla Petje said the school was honoured by what the municipality had done, which helped change the mindset that things ekasi were inferior.
Petje said the initiative would encourage parents to enrol their kids as the school was well-equipped.
“Our pupils will be able to learn the basics of computers and explore while they are still young.”
