WE ALL know that when schools re-open, there is always total chaos on our roads.
And the Automobile Association (AA) shares a few tips to remind everyone using public roads to be extra-careful.
Said the AA in a statement: “While government has a major role to play in making our roads safer, motorists also have an equally important role to play.
“In addition to ensuring that all roads are safe, motorists are encouraged to set good examples for the next generation of road users.”
- The association asked everyone, including parents, guardians and drivers who transport children to take note of the following while behind the wheel: Make sure that all passengers – even those on the back seat – are properly secured in child restraints or are wearing seat belts.) That any child restraints are properly fastened and properly attached to the vehicle.) Always obey the rules of the road. These include driving in accordance with the conditions of the road and avoiding the use of any electronic devices while driving.) And in case of a public transport vehicle, the designated driver should ensure the number of passengers doesn’t exceed the capacity allowed for that specific public transport vehicle.) Leaving well on time to reach your destination – without having the stress of trying to make up lost time to get to school or work.

The AA also urges all motorists out there to play a role in making Mzansi roads safer for all.
