THE trial of EFF leader Julius Malema and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is expected to get underway today at the Randburg Magistrates Court.
The trial date was initially set for two weeks ago, but had to be postponed to allow media houses to submit and argue for their applications to cover the case.
The magistrate previously indicated that the media won’t be allowed to film any proceedings on the first day because of the late applications and that the show must go on.

But Malema and Ndlozi’s defense team argued that if the media is not allowed when the first witness is going to give evidence, then they should also not be allowed through the trial.
Permission was granted and there are no delays expected in the case for today and tomorrow’s proceedings.
EFF members are expected to come in numbers to support their party leaders.
Malema and Ndlozi are facing common assault charges after they allegedly assaulted a senior police officer during the funeral of the ANC struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela back in 2018.
They have since denied that they have assaulted the officer.
However, details of what transpired on the day will be ventilated from this morning as the trial gets underway.
