A GROUP of angry izangoma is demanding answers.
This after a woman claimed she lost R2 million to a gogo she thought was a sangoma.
Agnes Shikwambane (47) claimed gogo Margaret Khumalo said she was a sangoma, and took her cash.
The two met in 2013 at a friend’s wedding and became friends.
Later Agnes received a large payout from the Road Accident Fund after her husband died in a car crash in 2015.
She then claims she bought Margaret four cars and built her a house.
Daily Sun published their story on Tuesday, 16 February headlined: “Sangoma took my millions.”
Agnes said she was heartbroken and revealed that Margaret was allegedly holding on to documents, her ID and bank cards, which she handed over when they were still on good terms.
She said she trusted her.
“I want my money back along with the property, cars and documents such as my husband’s death certificate, which she’s keeping,” she told the People’s Paper.
Izangoma from the Traditional Healers Organisation arranged a meeting with Margaret on Tuesday to explain the allegations against her, but she was a no-show.
Daily Sun and the izangoma visited Margaret’s house in Soshanguve, Tshwane, but found it locked.
Neighbours said they didn’t know that Maragret was a sangoma. Another neighbour said they saw her husband in the morning, but hadn’t seen Margaret.
The SunTeam tried to call her, but her phone was off.
Senior promoter of Traditional Healers Organisation in Soshanguve, Masoja Masemola (64) said, “I will not forgive myself until Agnes gets back her money,” said Masoja.
She said she was disappointed that Margaret didn’t come to the hearing as she agreed.
“She must not continue practising as a sangoma because she’s embarrassing true traditional healers,” said Masoja.
Gobela Zanele Mngomezulu (29) claimed this woman was not a traditional healer.
“We need help and want justice,” she said.
