‘I saw my mum being raped’

accreditation

THE family of an 85-year-old gogo has vowed to deal with her alleged rapist, should he be released from custody.

The gogo was raped on Sunday night in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni.

Gogo’s son told Daily Sun she earned a living by collecting bottles for recycling. He said the rapist tricked her into going to his house.

“He told her he had several plastic bottles at his house and she should come collect them,” he said.

“He then raped her. While he was busy, the kids who live at his house came to tell us what was happening.

“When I got there he was on top of my mum and there was blood all over.”

He was so furious he grabbed the man and started moering him.

The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was bust. He said the gogo was admitted to hospital after the brutal attack.

“How could someone rape an old woman?” he said.

“He even had a smug smile on his face, as if what he had just done was pleasant and satisfying.”

He said the community was just waiting to see how cops handled the matter.

“The minute he steps out of jail, he will be dealt with,” he said.

Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident.

Masondo said the suspect appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He was not asked to plead and the case was postponed to Wednesday.
