THE Ebuhleni faction of the Nazareth Baptist Church is considering going to the Constitutional Court.
This comes after the Supreme Court of Appeal decided Mduduzi Shembe would not lead the church.
Mduduzi lost the leadership battle last month.
Judges agreed that the signature on the will, signed by his late father Vimbeni, was genuine. Mduduzi’s cousin Vela is nominated in the will.
A senior church leader said Mduduzi was expected to announce the appeal during his closing address at Khenana Mountain in Ndwedwe, north of Durban, on Saturday.
The source said the matter had already been taken to the Constitutional Court.
Mduduzi’s legal adviser, Lizwi Ncwane, posted on Twitter: “The Nazareth Baptist Church Ebuhleni and the leader have no reason to fear anything, so Thembezinhle must focus on answering our ConCourt papers.”
Ebuhleni spokesman Thokozani Mncwabe said he had seen Lizwi’s tweet.
But he refused to comment before the leader had delivered his closing speech on Saturday.
Thembezinhle faction spokesman Nkululeko Mthethwa told Daily Sun he’d check with their legal team when they returned from Nhlangakazi Mountain next week.
