CONTROVERSIAL former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng has slammed the ANC for not developing his home village of QwaQwa, Free State.
Motsoeneng grew up at Thaba Bosiu Village before he moved to Bloemfontein and then Gauteng as an SABC employee.
According to Motsoeneng, the democratic government hasn’t done anothing in terms of service delivery in his village.
“There is no development in Thaba Bosiu. Everything that you have seen here was done by a Bantustan government. My village is viewed the same way as when I was growing up many years ago.
“I wish people could elect me so that I can transform this village and others within a period of six months. It is painful to see our elderly people living in an unconducive environment where there are sewerage blockages all over. No electricity, no proper roads and infrastructure, and no water but Metsimatsho Dam with 100% capacity is just around the corner,” he said.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, accompanied by Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela, visited the village on Monday, 20 September with the S’hamba Sonke Labour Intensive Road Programme.
The pair were there to officially launch a 27km road which connect Thaba Bosiu and Tsheseng villages.
Addressing the media, Mbalula said: “Some of the roads in the province were not finished because of corruption and money laundering. Millions of rands that were allocated to change the state of provincial and local roads have disappeared in the government coffers. Anyone who steals government money must be arrested irrespective of his/her designation.”
Premier Ntombela promised to attend all the critical challenges encountered by the residents quickly.
“We know about water and electricity challenges, among others. We are in the process of solving all the challenges,” she said.
