HE has failed to arrive in court and now the cops are looking for him.

The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the whereabouts of Matthieu Ndjayi-Shongo (42), who was charged for alleged possession of abalone.

According to Captain Tebogo Thebe, the cops arrested Ndjayi-Shongo and Matundu Vangu (53) in February 2020 after intercepting their vehicle that was allegedly transporting dried abalone on the N1 road between Cape Town and Gauteng.

“A thorough search of the truck revealed 43 boxes of dried abalone weighing about 860kg valued at about R7 million. Ndjayi-Shongo (as per attached picture) made a series of court appearances and was released on R30 000 bail,” said Thebe in a statement.

He said Ndjayi-Shongo was set to stand trial in August last year but he absconded.

Anyone with information on Ndjayi-Shongo’s whereabouts should contact the Hawks’ investigating officer Warrant Officer Bathini Mkrwala on 071 481 2797, or call CrimeStop number 08600 10111. All information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence.
