A DESPERATE mum needs help to find her missing baby.
Police are asking SunReaders for information on the whereabouts of Pretty Mphenemene’s 16-day-old daughter Koketso.
Benoni police spokeswoman Captain Nomsa Sekele said the baby was kidnapped at Lakeside Mall, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday after Pretty had left her in the care of the suspect to buy snacks.
The 43-year-old from Etwatwa told Daily Sun she trusted the suspect as she had even been to her house. They first met at a clinic two weeks ago.
“She was such a nice person. She portrayed herself as someone who had things in common with me,” she said.
Pretty said last week the woman came to her home to say she had found a job for her. She told her they needed to go to Benoni so she could meet her new boss.
They met at a pizza restaurant at 4.30pm on Saturday.
“I gave her my baby and told her I wanted to go buy snacks at the supermarket. When I came back she was gone,” she said.
Pretty’s older daughter, Lehlogonolo (22), said the suspect said her company had vacancies for interns and would ensure she and her brother were also hired.
“We were just happy to be around her as she had a great energy. Little did we know we were dealing with a crook,” she said.
