A MOTHER wants answers following the death of her seven-year-old son.
The boy and his sister (11) were shot in Vlei squatter camp in Samora Machel, Cape Town, on Friday last week.
The boy died on the scene and the girl was rushed to hospital, where she’s fighting for her life.
The kids’ mother, Nobom Landingwe, (34) said: “They were innocent. Whoever did this will answer to God.”
She said she wanted the police to find the shooter so she could ask why he did this.
Relatives said there were people after the kids’ father.
A relative said: “Their father was once attacked and shot at the house. He poured hot fish oil on the attacker to escape. The boy saw the shooter and we think it might be the same person who killed him.”
The relative said someone came to the family’s home on Friday.
“Their father escaped when he saw it was the same person who tried killing him last time. That’s when the kids were shot,” said the relative.
“The person who shot the kids has a grudge against the father and wanted him to feel the pain.”
The boy’s gogo said he was a very sweet child.
“I was expecting a leader in him. He was a good boy,” she said.
Police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said: “Cases of murder and attempted murder were registered for investigation. The wounded victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
