WHEN Gogo Skhotheni recently took her amathwasa out to groove, she was criticised by several gobelas and izangoma.
But on Sunday 26 September, she hit back at izangoma who take advantage of desperate clients by using muthi to sleep with them in the name of removing isichitho from them.
In a live video on Facebook the sangoma and traditional coach, whose real name is Patricia Shange, said it was high time people talked about such issues and dealt with them.
She said people should not consult with izangoma when they are desperate as this might lead to them being abused.
“I know a lot of izangoma will be fuming after watching this live video, but one has to tell the truth and warn the public about falling into a trap by sleeping with izangoma when they go and consult to remove bad luck,” she said in the video.
“Imagine you go seek help for your relationship and then your sangoma tells you he needs to put the muthi on his private parts so that things can be fixed.

“That is just a trick to get clients to sleep with them and in most cases these victims aren’t aware they’re being abused and some of them even if they try to open rape cases at police stations, such matters are never investigated.
“People must move away from criticising my initiates for grooving and rather tell us why nilala nabantu.
“It’s painful knowing that our brothers and sisters go through such things because of being desperate. Never consult when you are desperate,” she said.
Traditional healer Majoko Hlongwane said male izangoma who tricked their clients into sleeping with them have a roving eye. She said people should be careful and not listen or do everything they’re told to do by izangoma.
Police spokesman Colonel Donald Mdluli said if there are such incidents, victims are urged to open cases.
“If minors were victimised then a parent or guardian should accompany the minor to open a case at the nearest police station. The matter will be investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and perpetrators will be brought to book.”
Daily Sun tried to get hold of Gogo Skhotheni but both her phones went to voicemail.
