FORMER president Jacob Zuma has refused to be examined by a doctor recommended by the national prosecuting authority claiming this meant he was seen as a liar.
Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesman, Mzwanele Manyi, said Zuma took this position because it was not for the first time that his ill-health was second-guessed.
"President Zuma's attitude, for lack of a better word, is gatvol in terms of how he has been treated," said Manyi.
He said there has been a pattern where authorities seem to not believe medical certificates he presents in courts.
He said the first instance happened in the Pietermaritzburg high court and the same happened at the Zondo Commission.
"Zuma is saying why is it that I'm treated like some kind of a liar," said Manyi.
He said this posture was a general objection to how the former president felt he was treated.
Zuma was hospitalised on 6 August, a few days after he started serving his 15-months prison sentence at the Estcourt correctional centre in KwaZulu-Natal.
His corruption trial is expected to start on 9 September, after it was postponed due to his hospitalisation.
NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga said the NPA would not comment until the matter was heard in court.
