TWO men offered to pray for the family.
But they ended up leaving with their R11 000 in cash.
It was meant to pay for a relative’s bail.
The family said they were now desperate to find the men.
Isaac Khoza (44) from Dark City kasi outside Thulamahashe, Mpumalanga said after the prayer, one of the men asked for the cash.
He told Daily Sun that the man said they would pray for the money with other prophets.
Isaac’s wife Agnes Thumbu (34) said they had been having sleepless night since 13 September.
She said the two men introduced themselves as prophets Eddy Ndlovu and Wandile Ngobeni.
“The two young men started prophesying that our relative was jailed.
“They offered to pray for the R11 000 meant to pay for his bail and we believed them,” she said.
“My husband got some of the money from his piece job as a builder, and I raised the rest because I work as a domestic worker.”
Police spokesman Captain S’fiso Nyakane confirmed a case of theft under false pretence was opened.
Nyakane warned people to stay away from fake prophets who targeted the innocent.
He said anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the two men should call Mhala police on 013 773 0331.
