FOR the second time in six months, KZN is being attacked by devastating storms that claimed lives and destroyed homes.

Six people have died and several others are missing in the wake of the storms, which started on Sunday. Several houses and roads have also been damaged by the rain.

Paul Herbst of IPSS Medical Rescue told Daily Sun the body of an eight-year-old boy, who drowned earlier this week, was found in KwaDukuza yesterday.

He had been missing since Tuesday. Four others are still missing.

A 34-year-old woman died after she was struck by lightning in Bergville on Sunday.

Two people were killed in New Hanover, near Pietermaritzburg. An elderly couple died on Monday night when their house in Amaoti, north of Durban, collapsed.

The M4 between Umhlanga and Sibaya was washed away, while a number of roads were closed. Premier Sihle Zikalala, Co-operative Governance MEC Sipho Hlomuka and Finance MEC Ravi Pillay visited some of the affected areas yesterday.
