A COP who’s based in the Eastern Cape was arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly shooting and injuring his girlfriend.

It’s alleged the 29-year-old constable at Mount Fletcher Police Station took his girlfriend to the hospital after shooting her.

Ipid spokeswoman Ndileka Cola said the cop allegedly lied, saying she’d been shot by people trying to rob the couple.

“The officer allegedly went to open a case of attempted murder of his girlfriend and himself at the police station,” she said.

“When police visited the girlfriend in hospital, she informed them she’d been shot by her boyfriend during an argument.”

Cola said the incident was brought to their attention on Monday, 11 May.

“The suspect has been this morning charged for attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice and perjury, and will appear in the Mount Fletcher Magistrates Court on Thursday, 13 May.” said Cola.
