A good time to determine leadership quality is during a crisis.
Although he has been let down by his ever so incompetent Police Minister Bheki Cele and national police commissioner General Khehla Sitole, President Cyril Ramaphosa has shown a great deal of leadership. After the looting spree, he must institute a cabinet reshuffle and replace Cele.
On Friday, in an interview with Samkele Maseko on SABC1, KZN ANC chairman Sihle Zikalala said Zuma’s incarceration needed to be discussed as the Commission Act stipulates a six-month sentence for violations and not 15 months.
I was surprised that he’s not aware that Zuma has been found guilty of contempt of court, not for violating the act.
Not long ago, EFF’s Floyd Shivambu said KZN secretary-general Ndumiseni Ntuli was still wet behind the ears.
His insinuation came to mind as I listened to Ntuli in an interview on Morning Live where he called for a political solution to release Zuma.
It’s clear with him and Zikalala at the helm, KZN faces a leadership crisis.
