TWO of Bushiri’s tents caught fire on Wednesday night – and the church believes it was no accident!
Two of the five large prayer tents at the Tshwane Event Centre that belong to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering Church were set on fire, said church spokesman Ephraim Nyondo.
He said Bushiri was on the pulpit in another hall at the Tshwane Showgrounds.
“We’re deeply concerned about the incident and are immensely disappointed with the tireless attacks on our leader and the congregation.”
Nyondo said it happened days after the prophet survived an assassination attempt. He said the church was under attack.
“The church views Wednesday’s incident as a cowardly act aimed at instilling fear in the hearts of our members. We thank our safety and security team and the fire department for the swift response. We believe the aim of those behind it was to completely destroy the tents” he said.

“We call on the cops and all investigating agencies to help us get to the bottom of this so justice is not just done, but also seen to be done.” Police spokesman Kay Makhubele confirmed a case of malicious damage to property has been opened.
Tshwane emergency services spokesman Charles Mabaso confirmed the incident, but said he was waiting for a detailed update.
