IN SHOWING their sympathy and that they don’t condone what happened to the teenage boy from Hambanathi in Durban, business people from shisa nyamas and lounges across Durban, paid a visit to Andile Bobo Mbutho's Family on Wednesday.
Andile mysteriously disappeared after he was badly beaten at a tavern.
Days after he went missing, people got arrested and that led to human remains that were found at a river.
The human remains are believed to be of Andile but his family is still waiting for DNA results.
After hearing this the business people gathered and put together an amount of R10 000 which they donated to the family.
Speaking on behalf of the donors, Siphiwe Mcanyana of Artizen lounge situated in KwaMashu north of Durban said outlets that put together the donation so far are Under the Moon, Cafe Skyzer, Artizen lounge, Mashamplanez Shisanyama, Leon’s Lounge-Marikana, City Late Lounge, Moyito Lounge, Mojo’s CarWash/Shisanyama, Da Blues Shisanyama, Gidela Lounge, Monate Tarvern and The Zone Clermont-Derrick.
He said they have contributed what was necessary to the family to show love and support.
"Other business people are still going to contribute. We took an account number from the family and we will send them the number so that they send their contribution. We believe the family will get more than the R10 000 we left them," he said.
He said people support their businesses so in return they too want to show that they can count on them when they are in pain.
"We don't condone what happened to Andile. Our places are not meant to be places where people get beaten badly no matter what they did," he said.
Andile's aunt Zodwa Jali (39) said the family is happy and grateful for the support they got from the business people.
"They showed us that not all of them are bad. They too have hearts. They told us that they dont condone what happened and they hope justice will be served," she said.
