FOR years people living with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) faced stigma and discrimination.

Stigmatizing of the people affected their emotional and mental health.

In recent years, the people have become more accepting of the virus and people living with the virus have come to terms that it’s not a death sentence.

The hashtag ARVs has been trending on Twitter, tweeps telling their stories of how the virus has affected them or their close family members.

“He says he used to be ashamed of going to collect #ARVs but last week he just went and collected them without feeling any shame,” one of the tweeps said.
