Former president Jacob Zuma says his PA received a call last night, threatening to kill him.
Zuma said this proves how much his life is under threat.
Judge Raymond Zondo said the commission will do what it can to protect Zuma, in addition to the current protection which is in place.
Zondo added that it is unacceptable that people could resort to violence, because people can approach courts if they are not happy.
“It’s unacceptable, people who come to the commission to give evidence should not be threatened, their families should not be threatened or intimidated or harmed in anyway,” Justice Zondo said.
He added that all good people in this country must take a stand against the use of violence and intimidation.
“I’m happy that whatever threats have been made, haven’t made Mr Zuma to change his mind about giving evidence. He will continue to give evidence,” he added.
Zondo added that it will be important that all steps be taken by relevant authorities to make sure that the threats Zuma has reported are properly investigated and that they are not carried out.
