ZUMA RECALLED, BUT NO DEADLINE GIVEN!

accreditation

The African National Congress NEC has resolved to recall president Jacob Zuma but has given him no deadline to resign.

However, ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule said they expect Zuma to respond on Wednesday.

Magashule said the NEC's decision was final and cannot change.

He couldn't say for now whether they will press charges against Zuma is he refuses to resign.

Magashule confirmed at a media briefing on Tuesday that they have given Zuma the message but not the deadline to resign.

He confirmed Zuma wanted to be given 3 to 6 months period but the party wasn’t willing to give him that time.

Magashule said the NEC felt that time was too long.

Magashule said he went with Duarte to Zuma to communicate decision of NEC.

He says officials will continue to discuss with President Jacob Zuma.

"If the president refuses to resign then we will deal with that," said Magashule.

Magashule says they took decision to recall not because Zuma had done anything wrong or broken the law but they want Ramaphosa to take charge.

He said if there is State of The Nation Address it should be addressed by Cyril Ramaphosa.
