THE suspect thought he was starring in an action movie and could outrun the police.
But he was no match for the no-nonsense amaberete.
The cops managed to shoot the suspect twice and handcuffed him as he was lying on the roof of a house in Mzimhlophe, Soweto.
The incident happened yesterday.
Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the amaberete followed up on information about a suspect who allegedly committed crimes in Honeydew and fled to hide in Soweto.
“The team has wanted this suspect for some time and he was finally caught.
“He was wanted for attempted murder and multiple robberies,” Dlamini told Daily Sun.
He said when the suspect saw the cops coming, he opened fire but ended up being shot twice by cops.
“The suspect is currently in hospital under police guard. As soon as he is fit, he will face the full might of the law.
“The firearm he used to shoot at the cops was unlicensed. It was seized by the police.”
