GATVOL women from Evaton in the Vaal, south of Joburg protested on Friday over a gruesome discovery.

The residents found a dead foetus in the kasi’s illegal dumpsite.

After the discovery, the residents barricaded Easton Road while singing and chanting: “We want justice”.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Nthabiseng Mofokeng (26) said they were tired of finding dead babies at the dump.

“We want to send a clear message to women who dump babies that we will find them one day and make sure justice is served.”

Nthabiseng said the growing number of dumped babies was due to the growing number of illegal sites.

“If the municipality cleared these illegal dumping spaces, women would not have a place to dump their babies,” she said.

Phumzile Nkosi (35) said cops never brought anyone to book and that’s why the community members are protesting. “If cops followed up on possible leads and made arrests, people would stop doing this.” Phumzile said mothers should talk to their daughters about such matters.

Cops took the foetus and an inquest docket was opened.
