SHE had grown so tired of his beatings that on Friday she finally decided to end things between them.
Three days later she was dead.
The 23-year-old woman, who can’t be named to protect the identity of her four-year-old daughter, died yesterday morning after she was attacked in her room at Lindelani, north of Durban.
The suspect allegedly arrived at her rented room, broke down the door when she didn’t open it, and started assaulting her.
The victim’s 33-year-old aunt told Daily Sun: “Her child came to tell me her dad beat her mum up and, after he was finished, told her she was dead.
“He then put his child into his car and dropped her off at my house.”
The aunt said her niece had come to her house the previous day wearing only a T-shirt and told her she had fled her ex-lover’s beating.
“She dumped him on Friday because she was tired of him beating her. I asked her to cool down and gave her a new lock for her room,” she said.
“She used to live with him. But when she grew tired of the beatings last year, my sister found her a room.”
She said since her niece moved out of her ex-lover’s house, their relationship had been on and off.
KZN police spokeswoman Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that a case of murder was opened after a woman was found dead.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” she said.
