THE man hailed a taxi last Thursday to take him to his destination.

He gave the driver a R100 note.

But the driver put it on the dash board as he was trying to look for change.

The note was blown away by the wind as two windows of the taxi were open.

He watched in despair as his money flew in the air.

The taxi driver even stopped for a while and they tried to chase the note, but the wind was blowing faster.

The angry taxi driver had no choice but to drive the passenger for free. The taxi fare was R16, 50 and he was supposed to get R83,50 change.

“I was going to use the money to pay for the taxi the whole week,” said the sad passenger.

The taxi was travelling from Springs to Etwatwa.

The passenger blamed the taxi driver for opening the windows, but the driver insisted he had nothing to do with it.

Solly Masemola of the Benoni Education Transport Organisation said the commuter is welcome to report the matter.

“Taxi drivers must help the community as they are here to serve them.”
