THESE residents said their municipality is forcing them to live with snakes and frogs.
The people of Hostel 1 told Daily Sun Mangaung Municipality was doing nothing about dirty water running past their houses, making their kids sick.
Kagisho Rooman (40) said: “I’ve been living in this area for more than five years and nothing has been done about this mess.
“We have reported the matter to the municipality several times but no one takes us seriously.
“We can’t live like pigs. The municipality promised to resolve the problem, but nothing happens.
“Sometimes we find snakes and frogs under our beds and in front of our doors.
“We’re tired of this kak life.”
Kagisho said they constantly had to keep an eye on their kids to make sure they didn’t play in the dirty water.
“My eight-year-old boy has asthma because of the dirty water. People also throw kak in the water because we don’t have proper toilets or drains. We need the municipality to fix this problem because our kids suffer.”
Municipal spokesman Qondile Khedama told the People’s Paper: “We have made the team responsible aware and it will be attended to.
“Our team has indicated it’s not the first time this problem has come up, and officials will dig deeper to understand what the actual problem is.”
