WEAR SEAT BELTS TO STAY ALIVE!

accreditation

WESTERN Cape roads resembled a battlefield this week. The forensic pathology service said 33 people were killed in fatal incidents in the week from 14 to 20 February.

Over half of these fatalities (54%) were passengers.

“Too many people are still not wearing seat belts, especially back seat passengers.

“For example, three young people were fatally ejected in a horror crash on the N2 early on Monday morning.

“Evidence from the scene suggests that those who died were not wearing seat belts,” said provincial Traffic acting director Nathan Arendse.

Additional statistics for the week include 27 alcohol blitz roadblocks and random breath testing.

“Safety starts with respect and respect starts with you. Please share the road,” said Arendse.
