A Shoprite manager has been suspended after he was filmed having a verbal fight with a colleague.
In the video, the manager can be heard saying “Why don’t you meet me outside, let’s go.”
The man who was involved in the altercation, remains surprisingly calm and asks the manager if he’s there to work or fight.
“Go join boxing if you want to fight, we are here to work,” the man said.
In a statement released by Shoprite Holdings, the company says it strongly disapproves of the conduct of a manager in one of its Shoprite store in Gauteng.
“The Group apologises to its customers and employees and have taken immediate action.
The implicated member of store management was placed on suspension, pending an investigation into the incident to gather all the facts that will inform the disciplinary process,” the retailer said.
The company further stated that it’s fully committed to providing a polite and professional working environment.
“All employees are expected to apply the principles of respect and equality and to respect the inherent dignity of all.
This also applies to merchandisers and contract workers from other service providers,” the retailer further said in a statement.
It is Time Shoprite balance their race in management. This is disgusting. Shoprite should be called to order. pic.twitter.com/lvUYZSm45p
