MPUMALANGA cops have arrested over 100 for destruction of property after protests.
Thousands of protesters assembled outside the eMbalenhle Police Station demanding that those who were arrested for public violence and theft be released.
Following that, the police used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Leonard Hlathi said on Tuesday there was attempt to torch the eMbalenhle police station.
He added that a mall, post office and filing station were torched. .
“We are saying that even though community members are not happy with services, the destruction of property is tantamount to criminal acts.
We are calling for calm in this area because if this continues to happen we will have to arrest more community members,” Hlathi said.
