A PROPHET from the controversial Kingdom Prayer Ministry was arrested yesterday.

He was taken into custody at Moroka Police Station in Soweto after being accused of raping a 15-year-old girl.

Police spokesman Captain Mpande Khoza said the suspect turned himself in.

“He was arrested in the presence of his lawyer and is facing a charge of rape,” he said.

The prophet turned himself in after returning from a visit to Ghana, his home country.

This comes after Daily Sun ran a story last week about a rape case against the prophet.

At the time, church founder Nana Poku told the SunTeam the allegations were concocted by jealous people.

The church has branches in Rustenburg, North West and in Chiawelo, Soweto.

The rape is said to have happened at the Soweto church in February.

The 41-year-old mum of the girl who laid a charge said her daughter was traumatised.

“I went to the church for help because we survive on piece jobs, and I’m raising my daughter alone,” she said.

The suspect will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court today.
