Police have arrested a gang of suspected Cash-In-Transit robbers in Vhembe area of Limpopo.
The men are believed to have planning a robbery.
The Suspects were driving a white BMW 540i with military registration numbers.
A number of other vehicles including a hijacked car and firearms were seized.
Police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the operation, which composed the Provincial Tracking Team , the Saps Air Wing , the Crime Intelligent, the Mphephu and Siloam Police, have made a major breakthrough when they intercepted the syndicate soon after the suspects committed a business robbery in the Dzanani CBD yesterday.
These suspects allegedly attacked a local hardware and robbed workers of their cell phones and fled the scene in a VW Jetta.
Ngoepe said the cops were summoned and reacted swiftly until the getaway vehicle was spotted at Mavhoi village along the R523 road.
A motor vehicle chase ensued until at Matanda village where three suspects aged between 35 and 42 were cornered and arrested.
Four cars, two 9mm firearms, Balaclavas, hand gloves, two dash board blue lights and cash amount of R2 531 were seized.
He said the preliminary police investigations have revealed that the BMW 540i belongs to the SANDF VIP Section, the Mercedes Benz was hijacked in Pietermaritzburg in the KZN Province and the VW Jetta 6 was hijacked in Primrose in the Gauteng Province.
The Saps Provincial Commissioner General Nneke Ledwaba
has commended all the Police Officers who participated during this operation
for the job well done.
He has reiterated his strong warning to all the criminals out there that Limpopo cannot be turned into their playground.
"We are equal to the task as the police and members of the community must continue supporting us with quality and reliable information about any criminal activities occurring around their areas in order for us to deal with it successfully," said Ledwaba.
The suspects will appear before Dzanani Magistrate Court soon.
