TAXI TSOTSIS BUST IN ACT!

accreditation

DURING the day it is a normal taxi, but at night it is used to rob people!

The taxi is affiliated to the Orange Farm United Taxi Association and it usually operated in Orange Farm, south of Joburg.

On Wednesday the taxi was found outside a house in De Deur while the driver and his accomplices were busy robbing and ransacking the property during a housebreaking.

It is not clear if it is a syndicate, but cops and residents said there were many reports of a Toyota Venture being used during break-ins.

Cops are happy to have clinched their first success in the case.

Constables Dinah Tsotetsi and Molefe Mofokeng were on duty when they received a tip-off about a robbery in progress.

They raced to the scene and seized the Venture, which was filled with stolen goods and had the key still in the ignition.

Residents said the thieves ran away when the cops arrived.

A stove and a refrigerator were left behind in the yard.

Police spokesman Captain Fikile Funda told Daily Sun an investigation was under way.

“The taxi belongs to an owner in Orange Farm,” said Funda.

“No suspects were arrested and cops are investigating.”

Meanwhile, De Deur cop shop station commander Colonel Mnini Molotsi said the cops were just doing their job.

“But we are still very proud of them,” he said.

Molotsi further said it was motivating to see a team with a woman do the right thing in Women’s Month.

“Today we are applauding a female officer and her male colleague for doing a good job,” he said.
