A MUM desperately needs help from a Good Samaritan who can donate a wheelchair for her son who is living with a disability.
Unemployed Smangele Dlamini (35) from Umlazi, south of Durban, told Daily Sun her son Lwazi Sikobi (11) is blind and unable to walk.
She said he doesn’t have a wheelchair and she is forced to carry him wherever they go.
“My son was born blind and unable to walk. I have to take him to the toilet from time to time because he can’t tell me if he needs to relieve himself,” she said.
Smangele said she desperately needed a wheelchair for her son.
“I bought a wheelchair in 2008, but it broke in 2017 because he was too big. When we go to collect his disability grant we travel by taxi.
“I sometimes ask my neighbours to help me carry him into the taxi. I can’t do it by myself.”
She said the house they live in is not suitable for her son’s disability.
“Social workers told me to go to human settlements offices with a letter they gave me to apply for a proper house.
“I went there last year and they added my name to their database. They told me to wait as there were no houses at the time.”
KZN social development spokeswoman Ncumisa Ndelu said Smangele should visit their offices in Umlazi.
