“RESPECT has kept me strong and young.”

Gogo Lizzy Yena from Phenduka Section in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni, has just turned 100.

She said: “People should eat less meat and more fruit and veggies.”

She advised the youth of Mzansi to get an education and stay away from alcohol, cigarettes and drugs.

“These all are just ways of decreasing your days on earth,” she warned.

Her children and grandchildren organised the 100 year celebration party held at her home over the weekend.

Gogo Lizzie was blessed with 10 kids, eight of whom are alive.

She has 30 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. “Seeing my great-grand
children has been a bonus.”

One of her sons, Lucas Yena (62) said their mother kept the family together through faith.

“We thank God for giving us such a strong mother.”

Grandchild Mxolisi Yena (37) said: “I love my gogo so much. Even though she is old, she is still a good adviser. I hope God can give her 100 more years.”
