PICS: TWITTER ARMY TAKES OVER!

accreditation

AS tense as it is in Mzansi’s northerly neighbour, the wonderful people on social media would not let the chance pass to have some fun.

Memes joking about the notorious reign of President Robert Mugabe, as well as his wife Grace, brought some much-needed humour to a serious situation.

Reports of the “coup” which Zimbabwean officials kept denying despite the takeover of government by troops, saw local jokers put out images showing Mugabe’s face on a can of Koo baked beans.

Another meme that has Mzansi in stitches is him having to run for dear life from what appears to be a man from the army with a sjambok.

Grace also came in for a lashing with an image of a woman running down an airport runway – presumably that of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

A woman pulling a suitcase is positioned between the words: “Latest sighting of Grace Mugabe”,

Another funny image was of a group of people on an aeroplane’s boarding ladder with no plane in sight. The caption reads: “Mugabe and cronies waiting to get out of Harare . . .”

The most popular meme by far was, of course, one of an electrical cord extension that Grace will use to stop the coup!

The “disgraced” first lady of Zimbabwe made headlines earlier this year when she allegedly attacked one of her sons’ female friends in a hotel in Sandton with an electrical cord.
