MZANSI veteran actress Nomhle Nkonyeni’s funeral is underway in her kasi New Brighton.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at the Nangoza Jebe Hall in Port Elizabeth to bid farewell to Nkonyeni, who passed away last week at Livingstone Hospital after a short illness.
The 77-years-old veteran actor from Nelson Mandela Bay that is also home to Winston Ntshona and John Kani, appeared in numerous television and theatrical productions.
She was awarded the SAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
Early this year she received the highest honour in the country, the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver for her role in theatre and film from President Cyril Ramaphosa.
