Approximately eight people were left injured following a multiple vehicle collision on Monday morning.
The accident occurred at the Hendrik Potgieter and R28 Road intersection, west of Joburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, were on the scene at 10h57.
"It was found that two truck and three vehicles had collided and had come to a stop in the middle of the intersection. Several loads of softdrinks that had been on the back of one of the trucks was now scattered around the scene.
"Upon closer inspection, paramedics found that approximately eight people had sustained moderate injuries. One of the patients also lay trapped inside their vehicle," said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
He said Rescue Services went to work on freeing the entrapped patients while paramedics treated the remained.
Once all the patients had been treated, they were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
