PASSENGER SHOT DEAD IN TAXI

A JIKELEZA passenger was killed in full view of other commuters on Tuesday night.

Mamiya Ntsanyana (20), from KwaNobuhle in Nelson Mandela Bay was shot dead while sitting in a taxi on Lawrence Vinqi Road.

Police spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli said: “Police are appealing for leads that could assist them to solve the case.

“On Tuesday at about 7pm, a jikeleza taxi with several passengers inside stopped to let someone out.

“A blue VW Polo pulled up in front of them. An unknown man got out, walked to the back of the taxi and shot passengers sitting in the back.

“The suspect then got back into his car and drove off. The victim died at the scene. Nothing was said before the shooting and nothing was stolen.

“At this stage, the motive for the murder is unknown and the police are still investigating all possibilities.”

Police urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Sergeant Gcinikhaya Ntliziywana on 041 978 8800 or 071 475 2330.
