A GOGO’S children are struggling to deal with her horrific death.

Mogolo Maano drowned in a dam of sewage covering half her yard on Thursday.

Her family told Daily Sun the 64-year-old from Jouberton in Klerksdorp, North West, had repeatedly reported the sewerage problem to the Matlosana Municipality since December but nothing was done.

Her grieving daughter, Nnananyana Maano-Moroke (44), said she heard her mum screaming after she went out to the toilet but she thought she had seen an animal.

“Later my younger brother went outside and found her lying in the sewage. We tried to pull her out but she was heavy and her body was already cold,” she said.

They called the ambulance and paramedics declared the gogo dead.

The municipality’s Johannes Pelusa confirmed the matter had been reported.

“Our challenge is that the official attending to the matter was attacked by residents,” he said.

After a meeting with the mayor, the municipality promised to help the family with the funeral.

They also promised to try and find employment for members of the family.
