COPS have arrested the infamous Mamelodi taxi boss Vusi "Khekhe" Mathibela who has been terrorizing the area for months.
On Monday, cops obtained a warrant of arrest for Khekhe following cases of extortion, intimidation and assault leveled against him.
He is alleged to have been part of a group "terrorising" the community of Mamelodi over a period of time.
Six suspects were arrested last week, who were part of the group that reportedly is linked to the terror acts.
Three of these suspects, Zwelibanzi Ngubane, Justice Khumalo and Asante Alfred were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms.
They appeared in the Alexander Magistrate's Court and were released on bail of R2000.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said the whereabouts of Khekhe could not be established initially.
However, the net was closing in on him when he decided to hand himself over to police last night.
"We are confident that he has cases to answer to," General Khehla John Sitole said.
Police Minister Bheki Cele said the long arm of the law knows no boundaries, and will forever take its course no matter who you are.
“Residents of Mamelodi have been living in fear for far too long, the authority of the State will be felt and heard in all corners of South Africa,” Cele said.
