FOR the past four years a woman (25) said she has been suffering abuse from her cop ex-husband (34).
She claimed he used to beat her and threaten to shoot her with his service pistol. Three years ago she ended their relationship, but now he is allegedly harassing her.
She laid charges but nothing was done. The last straw was when he allegedly beat her about three weeks ago.
The woman, from KaNyamazane near Mbombela in Mpumalanga, said her ex-husband came across her walking with friends. He asked her to go home with him to take the clothes she had left behind.
“He was very sweet. I gladly got into his car. To my surprise he did not drive home but to a river,” she said.
“I asked him where we were going. He told me to shut up and pulled out his gun.
“He told me that if he can’t have me, nobody will ever have me. When we arrived at the river he beat me.
“He undressed me and started touching my private parts. He said he wanted to kill me and himself.”
A passing taxi driver allegedly saw what was happening. Cops soon arrived and found the man still beating her. She said they tried to stop him.
“The cops called an ambulance. When I tried to get inside the ambulance, he dragged me out and said he would take me to hospital. Instead, he took me to his house.”
He is a member of the flying squad in White River.
Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said the cop was bust for assault, appeared in court on 30 October, and was granted R2 000 bail.
He is expected to appear again on Friday.
