SOME parents protect their children even when they have done wrong.
But when this mum heard her son had allegedly killed a man in a tavern, she hunted him down herself and handed him over to the cops on Thursday.
Sibongile Ndlovu traced her 29-year-old son to a house in Ebumnadini near Tshepisong in Kagiso, Mogale City, and took him to the police.
She said she was hurt by what her son had allegedly done. “It could happen to anyone. It was not going to sit well with me to see another family mourning while we folded our arms and did nothing. I just want the victim to get justice, even though he may not come back from the dead,” she said.
Captain Solomon Sibiya said the mum arrived at the police station with the suspect.
“She told the police that her son and the victim alledgedly had an argument and that her son stabbed claimed man with a sharp object,” he said.
Sibiya said the 45-year-old victim, Stanley Shilakwe, was rushed to hospital but died before he arrived there.
Khulekani Ndlovu subsequently appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates Court, where he was charged with murder.
