THREE years ago Noncedo decided to go into business.
Today, Noncedo Khawuleza-Ndzawuse from Faure, Cape Town has 40 pigs and her business is doing well.
“I quit my job as a security guard because I was spending too little time with my family. Now I can take care of my kids while taking care of the pigs,” said Noncedo.
“Women need to stand up and do things that will enable them to take care of themselves.”
She said there is nothing wrong with being a farmer as long as you love what you’re doing.
“People, especially women, must not laugh at what I do. I work with pigs but I love my work. Sometimes you need to get dirty to make money,” she said.
Noncedo supplies shisa nyamas in her area with meat.
She said people shouldn’t expect the government to provide everything for them.
