Twitter users would not support Joburg Mayor in his attempt to stop meat traders in the city.
Mayor Herman Mashaba spotted one of the traders pushing cow heads in an open trolley in the CBD.
He tweeted the picture with the words: "I have just personally stopped this illegally act in our city. How do we allow meat trading like this? I am waiting for@AsktheChiefJMPD to come and attend before we experience a breakdown of unknown diseases in our city."
Although Mashaba's tweet received support from a few people the majority told him to leave the skopo alone.
Some even told him that stopping such people from trading is killing small businesses.
Several others advised the mayor to provide mobile kitchens for them rather than shutting them down..
Chief, your very own JMPD come buy this meat at Westgate taxi rank. What's gonna happen now?

The irony is that listeriosis, which killed 194 ppl, originated from a PLANT by one of the big companies, that sell in at established retail stores. He never even closed one fridge at any of those store.

This is a funny one by Mr Mayor..hasn't he ever had inhloko eTown ? Mr Mayor, go try it and you say like the lunch. Try and build them suitably closed and refrigerated trolleys them you may win a few additional voters , dont try and kill these small businesses, you'll regret it.

Don’t kill small businesses rather try to help those people. These people are trying to earn a living and must not be excluded from parti in the main stream economy, they need to be helped with issues of compliance .

The people should be trained on how to expand their business not self entitlement or freebies that has destroyed our prescence of mind & ability to be creative. Who knows, one day they can even showcase this trade on World Meat Exhibitions ????
