Cops have arrested Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo on Tuesday and he is currently in police custody.
This comes after he allegedly assaulted musician Babes Wodumo.
Police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo said: “The suspect in the Babes Wodumo assault case has been arrested and is currently in police custody."
Police Commissioner Khehla Sithole instructed cops to arrest Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo on Tuesday morning.
Speaking on the SABC show Morning Live, Sithole confirmed that Babes Wodumo laid a charge against Mampintsha.
On the show Sithole said: "I can assure you by the end of today he'll be in court."
On Monday Mzansi went into a frenzy when a video of Mampintsha beating Gqom star Babes Wodumo went viral.
In the video, Babes is heard saying in Zulu: “You are hitting me, why are you hitting me?”
She also said, “Ungijwayela amasimba,” which means, “You are disrespecting me”.
Then Mampintsha is seen beating Babes several times and pulling her by the hair. While hitting her he is heard saying: “There are kids in this house. What do you mean I’m full of shit!”
