The Limpopo ANC Provincial Executive Committee has sacked seven of its mayors, who are implicated in VBS bank scandal.

Limpopo premier Stan Mathabatha briefed the media on the VBS Forensic Audit report.

12 of the municipalities in Limpopo have wrongfully and irregularly invested money with VBS.

All the municipalities lost their whole deposits that they have made into VBS.

"We have investigated circumstances that led to the municipalities to invest money with VBS and have taken a painful decision," said Limpopo ANC provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane

Lekganyane said that about this development, they have decided to release the mayors of Makhado, Collins Chabane, Lepelle Nkumbi, Giyani, Greater Fetakgomo-Tubatse, Ephraim Mogale and Vhembe from their duties.

Vhembe Mayor, Florence Radzilani, resigned with immediate effect earlier today.

Lekganayane said that a total of 10 municipalities in the province had invested with VBS.

But 3 municipalities withdrew their investments after instructions from national treasury.

The others, however, continued to invest.

Mathabatha said they are going to implement all recommendations made in the audit report, including criminal charges and civil claims against mayors and all who are implicated.
