THE pupils want the teacher who was sent to another school back and for two week, they’ve refused to learn.
The kids at Ngqaqini Junior Secondary School in Willowvale, Eastern Cape said they wanted teacher Nonkoliseko Makabane back.
Nonkoliseko was moved because the education department said the school had too many teachers. Parents believed she had brought positive changes to the school since her arrival in 2008.
Nkciyo Lumnkile, chairman of the school governing body, said they told the principal they should have been consulted on the matter.
“Our principal told us there were specific people who deal with these matters,” he said.
“Nonkoliseko played a huge role at the school.”
Malibongwe Mtima, a spokesman for the provincial education department, said: “Parents don’t take part in this matter.
“The principal first checks if someone is willing to leave the school. If no one is willing to leave, the issue then becomes last in, first out. We will investigate to find out if the correct procedure was followed.”
